Back from NZ

Yep I know, another ridiculous length of time between posts. The excuse ? erm. Mostly because we were on holiday in New Zealand over christmas and new year.

The holiday got off to a bumpy start, mostly due to kiwi customs service failing to grasp why I had my expired passport (because it contains my australian visa) and held me back from the front of the queue to back. My exasperation disappeared when Hertz gave me a Falcon XR6. We stayed at Lynns place before heading north to Northland for 6 days. The first couple of nights was spent at Hokianga bay, where we suffered our only day of rain, but discovered the puzzle game Tantrix.

From there we headed to the Bay of Islands. We stayed there for 3 nights, taking in a boat cruise to the Hole in the Rock, which lived up to its name, and the site of the treaty between the brits and the maori's.

Then it was back to Auckland for Christmas. We spent christmas day at a friend of Lynn's for a big feed with all of Lynn's friends, Sue, John and Tom. On Boxing we went to an island just north of auckland that is a wildlife sanctuary.

The following day we headed south to the Coromandel Peninsula to a house we'd rented for New Year. We spent the rest of the holiday there, mostly on the beach because we had such good weather. New Year was very good, I got pleasantly drunk but escaped the resultant hangover, much to everyones surprise. Or digust, not sure which.

I have put photos on a photo sharing website this time. You'll find them here. All our photos will go on this service from now on.
